Cost Management
A Fresh Approach
The Surveying Consultancy Ltd is a Chartered Building Consultancy with a reputation for finding innovative solutions for managing contracts, with the sole aim of maximising project value for our clients. Our expertise as Quantity Surveyors extends beyond delivering cost management services for measured term contracts, to contract consultation, dispute resolution, CDM co-ordination and overall project management on new builds and refurbishments.
"We have a track record of adding value and not costs to projects."
To maximise value for our clients, we use our expertise and skill in estimating, cost planning and cost analysis to ensure your project is delivered within budget. As buildings become more complex with a greater reliance on engineering services, so the role of the QS is critical in planning and cost measurement, to ensure true value is delivered in the finished project.
As Quantity Surveyors, we have established an impressive portfolio of successful projects both in the UK and Overseas.
We work in conjunction with many of the leading contractors on a vast range of projects and have earned an excellent reputation amongst colleagues in the construction industry for our knowledge, expertise and efficiency delivering QS services.
Our work is delivered to the highest possible standard, in-line with current professional best practice guidelines, valuations and appropriate standards.
We offer a comprehensive range of contract management services, tailored to each client’s needs and designed to maximise project value.

Feasibility Studies
The earlier we can be involved in the planning process for a new project, the more effective the QS solution is likely to be. We are happy to undertake project feasibility studies and provide initial cost advice on a strictly confiedential basis. This will identify potential problem areas at the earliest opportunity and will allow for a realistic appraisal of likely costs before the contract is committed. Back to top

Cost Control
Arguably the most critical aspect of providing an effective QS service, cost control is at the top of most peoples agendas for effective contract management. We take pride in managing our client’s budget as if it were our own. Nothing is left to chance. The mark of a professional QS is to identify and control costs in order to deliver projects as specified without compromise. Back to top
Contract Administration
Effective contract administration is the ‘glue’ which holds a successful QS contract together. At The Surveying Consultancy, we pay the same professional attention to detail irrespective of the size of the project. Efficient contract administration is always important but not necessarily guaranteed.
We take time to ensure that the contract administration is always up to date and capable of the most searching scrutiny. Back to top
Interim valuations
The role of interim valuations is to remove uncertainty. Working to current UK and international standards as appropriate, we will complete interim valuations as part of the scheduled contract or as a separate independent instruction. We will agree in advance the basis of the valuation and the terms of reference. We can also provide a detailed analysis of the key issues identified in the valuation process and offer recommendations as part of an action plan where required. Back to top
Final Accounts
Whatever the scope and scale of the project, we take great care in the preparation and presentation of the final accounts. When the entire QS contract is managed efficiently and effectively, the delivery of final accounts to agreed standards is just part of our role in helping to conclude another successful project. Whole Life Costing
Today the role of the QS increasingly extends beyond the actual new build phase or refurbishment. Where there is a requirement for ongoing building or services maintenance over a specified number of years, we are able to provide Measured Term Contracts (MTC’s) or similar long term contract options to manage the overall procurement and control of maintenance programmes. We encourage building owners to regularly review their maintenance requirements to ensure value for money and to protect the value of their property. Back to top
