New Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham

The Surveying Consultancy has been appointed to work as a quantity surveyor on part of the development of the prestigious new Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The groundbreaking hospital building is designed to bring revolutionary research and development to genetics, clinical trials and cancer treatment for the midlands. The new hospital will open to patients in June 2010. Over 10,000 tons of steel is being used in the new venture that will house 30 theatres, 23 inpatient theatres and 7 day care centres. Within the project 44% of the 1,213 beds will be in single rooms with the remaining beds in 4 bed wards to guarantee a comfortable stay for its patients. The hospital will merge with Birmingham’s Selly Oak Hospital while using key aspects from the existing Hospital leaving a site for new developments within the area. Nick Garvey Managing Director of The Surveying Consultancy said: “ This is a fantastic development and a great opportunity for TSC as it’s the first new acute hospital to be built in Birmingham for 70 years. We are delighted to be working with other major contractors on this very exciting project.”
